Hart Road Wetland, Aldinga Beach

Where Is It?: Hart Road Wetland is on the corner of Hart Road and Rowley Road, Aldinga Beach. It is adjacent to the NE corner of the Aldinga Scrub Conservation Park.

Car parking is available along Hart and Rowley Roads. Public transport is available on Bus Route 751 from Colonnades Centre Interchange to Sellicks Beach (Stop 116 on Emerald Boulevard, Aldinga Beach).

History: The wetlands were completed in July 2013 by the City of Onkaparinga as part of stage 2 of it’s Water Proofing the South initiative.

Habitat: These wetlands cover an area of c. 17 hectares and have been extensively revegetated.

Total Species Recorded to Date: 129 (non-passerines 83, passerines 46)

Common Species: Pacific Black Duck, Grey Teal, White-faced Heron, Red-kneed Dotterel, White-headed Stilt, Crested Pigeon

Less Common Species: Pink-eared Duck, Chestnut Teal, Glossy Ibis, Black-fronted Dotterel,  Silver Gull, Elegant Parrot, Golden-headed Cisticola
